Wedding at the Melbourne View Hotel Castle Donington

Gemma and Dave married earlier this year at the Melbourne View Hotel, at Castle Donington. The theme of the wedding was Fantasy and Fairy Tales, and the attention to detail was spectacular, thanks at least in part to Lush Occasions who provided some of the interior design and materials.

Usually when we go to this venue, we go to Melbourne Lake for some nice photos, but the weather was looking a bit iffy so we went back into the wedding room instead. The light which comes through the net curtains is truly inspiring.

Although the Melbourne View Hotel is not a particularly big venue, the proprietoress is always so helpful and friendly that everyone comes away saying how much they enjoyed themselves, and this wedding was no exception.

Dave, of course, is a well-known musician who plays in his own group, and he entertained us all at the party later on.

Burton Albion FC Wedding Fayre

It makes a change to be able to post on the blog on the same day as the event! Usually, we are weeks if not months behind!

The Burton Albion Football Club Wedding Fayre at the Pirelli Stadium today appeared to be a quiet affair, but the absence of crowds belied the number of brides who attended. There was a steady stream of people from the moment the doors opened, and we ourselves chatted to more than 50 brides over the course of the day, quite apart from those who had already booked a photographer. Interest was high right out to 2015!

Oddly enough, many of the brides we spoke to were interested in marrying at Branston Pavilions - far more than any other single venue in the area. Are they having an advertising splurge at the moment? We've done several weddings there recently, and it really is a lovely venue (and I'm not saying that just because they fed us!)

There were demonstrations of make-up, botoxing (which I didn't photograph!) and also of bridal hair fashion by Hairbrain of Burton on Trent.

The lovely lady who volunteered for the hairdressing (I think she felt aggrieved because she'd missed out on the botoxing!) you might recognise as one of the organisers from Burton Albion. I don't know a lot about hairdressing, but the end result was stunning from only about 25 minutes of work.

Wedding Photography at Branston Pavilions

Phillip and Michelle married on the 1st June this year, at the ancient church of St Laurence at Walton on Trent.

The weather was a bit overcast, but generally that makes the photographs better by reducing the dark shadows which sunlight causes. We could therefore shoot most of the day without using fill-in flash, so we could be even more unobtrusive than usual.

Michelle looked quite beautiful, and Phillip never stopped smiling all day - well, apart from the pre-service wait when Michelle was about fifteen minutes late....

Phillip is something big in the Scouting organisation, and the local pack turned out to give the couple a rousing welcome after the service!

The reception was at Branston Pavilions, at Branston Golf Club, and the weather held out for some shots by the fountain at the 18th hole.

Phillip took off in the golf buggy like Lewis Hamilton at Brands Hatch, but a gentle guiding hand from Michelle kept him on the straight and narrow.

After the photos, it was back for the evening party, and all had a wonderful time.

We wish Michelle and Phillip all the best for the future.
